In order to get the best contact between the worm and the ring gear in your mount, the worm must be centered on the teeth of the ring gear. Centering is accomplished through the use of plastic shims. In older mounts the plastic used my disintegrate over time, in any case the shims used are of a single thickness that does not allow for the proper centering of the worm. These PTFE shims come in three different thicknesses that are designed to allow you properly center the worm.
You will receive the following with your shim upgrade kit:
4 - 0.010" PTFE shims
4 - 0.015" PTFE shims
4 - 0.020" PTFE shims
